SAVE THE DATE:
The annual False Bay Nature Reserve Birdathon – Fun Walk and Festival is a fun family day, spent outdoors celebrating some of Cape Town’s best wetlands and the diverse birdlife they support. The event is hosted by BirdLife South Africa (BLSA), the Cape Bird Club (CBC) and the City of Cape Town.
This exciting event is aimed at people of all ages and sees participants interacting with others from a range of different backgrounds. Participants can take part in a 4km, 5.5km or 6.8km walk through the Strandfontein Birding Area of the False Bay Nature Reserve.
What makes this event unique and exciting is that during the walk applicants will take part in an environmental education quiz, with a chance to win spot-prizes! A number of information stations will be set-up en-route where the participants can learn more about the area and its beautiful birds. Participants are invited to ask questions of the volunteers stationed along the routes and will receive a chart of a few of the more common birds that can be spotted along the three routes.
In addition, other thrilling, interactive and enjoyable festivities will take place.
More information on the 2016 event, scheduled for 16 April 2016, will be posted closer to the time.
